87 persons have died so far due to lightning in Cambodia

Kompong Chhnang. Two men died by a lighting strike on Tuesday, said the Ampil Toek Commune Police. Vaen Sochann, 24, was fishing in the lake, about 200 meters from his village in Ampil Toek when a lighting stroke the place at about 3 PM. Although his family tried to bring him to get medical attention, nothing was possible because he died at the spot, said Police Commune Chief Ong Voeurn. The authority mentioned also that Sochann was fishing under the heavy raining. Another victim was a Vietnamese citizen at the Koh Thkov Commune, Cholkiri District. Ho Yang Tieng, 39, a long time resident at the Ta Ches Commune, Kompong Tralach, went with his wife, also a Vietnamese, to hunt rats at the rice fields, when a lighting stroke him at 1:45 PM. His wife was not injured. 87 persona have died during 2013 and 71 have been injured in Cambodia during the first seven months of the year, according to Keo Vy, deputy director for the National Committee for Disasters.
